This is my interpretation on the Minecar from Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, created in a week during April 2023 and showcased in Unreal Engine 5.
I originally created this to contribute to a project led by fans of the series to remaster the classic Oddworld games with brand new high resolution model renders, but I was so proud of this I wanted to use it for a portfolio piece as well, so here it is!
The high poly mesh was created using subdivision modeling.
Textures baked and exported at 4k resolution. AO, Roughness. and Metallic packed into a single map for optimal Unreal Engine usage.
There are definitely some things I would do different today, some sloppy modeling here and there to fix, lack of bevels on some parts, and geometry reduction due to the high tri-count. Texture improvements could be made in regards to the dirt and grime.
The environment was made using a couple of Quixel Megascans meshes thrown together, originally this vehicle appears in an enormous underground mining cavern, so I wanted a small environment to add some flair to the showcase.
